Random Team Generator
Paste a list of names, choose how many teams you need, and get evenly sized random groups.
How to make random teams
Enter one name per line, set the number of teams and press Generate. Names are shuffled fairly and dealt into teams so sizes differ by at most one.
Groups for class, work and sport
Use it for classroom group projects, workshop breakout rooms, five-a-side football or game nights. Regenerate until everyone is happy, or keep the first result for fairness.
Tips for balanced teams
For skill-balanced sides, generate teams from separate lists (for example strong and new players) and combine them.
Frequently asked questions
Is the result really random?
Yes. WheelofChoice uses your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), so every outcome has the same chance unless you deliberately change the weights.
Is it free and do I need an account?
It is completely free and works without sign up. Your lists are saved only on your own device.
What if the names don't divide evenly?
Extra people are spread across the first teams, so team sizes never differ by more than one.
